Departing Scientist Check List

  1. A xerox copy of your lab notebook must be made before you give your original lab notebook to Lois.  Ask her for the copy code to do this on the copier in 240 Emerson.  You CANNOT take the brown lab notebook home with you, but only the xerox copy.
  1. Copy Sliver Server files from your personal folder to a CD, along with other analysis files from your project(s) on your personal computer.  Give this backup CD of your work to Lois. She will archive it for safety in a locked cabinet.
  1. Contact Sandy Harrington and identify any frozen items we need to keep in our freezers from your experiments, ie DNA.
  1. DISCARD all solutions, DNA, and PCR products not being kept.  BE SURE THESE ARE DISCARDED using the APPROVED Cornell University procedures (double check with Sandy Harrington on that).
  1. You must schedule an Exit Interview appointment with Dr. Susan McCouch at least one week before you leave.  During this interview you will indicate if you would like to take or ship DNA or Seeds from the McCouch lab to your home country.  You must have Dr. McCouch's permission to do so, along with the correct Customs paperwork, if she grants you permission.  Otherwise your DNA and seeds will be stored in the McCouch Lab.
  1. Lois needs to know your departure date from the USA.
  1. Provide Lois with clear, accurate and up-to-date contact information on how to contact you in your home country after you depart.
